Hello parents!  I enjoy working with kids of all ages, and love watching them learn.  I've been sitting for many families (50+) in the area for the last few years, and I also have a Masters of Education (Elem. Ed.) from George Mason.  Over the past 14 years I’ve worked with children in a variety of roles, including:  -- Occasional babysitting (2010-2024) - Ages 2-10 -- FCPS - Internship (3rd/5th grade) and sub teaching (2010-2013) -- Private tutoring Since I am a male sitter, I’d be a great fit for those with boys that like to build legos, conduct science experiments, and play outdoor games and sports!  I also enjoy and have lots of experience babysitting younger children and toddlers, as young as 30 months. Note: I prefer to babysit for children between the ages of 2.5-10.    Since I currently work full time, my schedule is limited to just occasional afternoons, evenings and weekends. I’m the proud mother of 3 girls who are now 21 twins and 17. I am interested in working with younger children again. My twins have cerebral palsy so I became a very involved stay at home mom. I loved teaching and playing with my children as they grew up.

I am looking for a family with active kids, full of energy, and that is ready to have a great time! Parents that wish their kids could be more active and outdoors are also welcome. :) (I also enjoy indoor activities, though!) I believe as much as kids can stay outside, playing, and distracted, the better, so they don't get bored or start missing their parents. I love to be out with kids, playground, pool, playing sports, riding a bike, chalking, playing tag, hide and seek, and enjoying the nice weather - if possible! Hi! My name is Amy! I'm very passionate about working with young children (0-5)! I enjoy engaging children in developmentally appropriate activities and taking them outside to play! Arts and crafts and sensory bins are fun to do on rainy days, or not so rainy days too! I really enjoy getting to know each of the children I work with and like to come up with activities to do with them based upon their interests. I have my bachelors degree in child and family development, a graduate level certificate called the EC-SEBRIS (early childhood socio-emotional behavior regulation intervention specialist certificate), as well as my masters in child development all from San Diego State University. I have worked with children of all ages ranging from infants and on up to thirteen year olds (with most of my experience working with infants and toddlers). I have interned in elementary schools, San Diego State University Children's Center, and head start programs before. I taught at a preschool as a toddler teacher for a year and a half. I have nannied and babysat for numerous families over the years including families with twins, multiples, and have done nanny shares before as well. I am a Newborn Care Specialist trained through the Newborn Care Training Academy (NCTA) and am also a Postpartum & Infant Care Doula trained through ProDoula. I am a 35 years old and have Associates degree in early childhood education and majoring in Psychology at GMU. I've worked at least 11+ years as a caregiver in a variety of settings.  I consistently care for toddler nephews and other families occasionally. I have cared for multiple ages up to 12years old and worked as a long-term/short-term substitute teacher at Fairfax County Schools. I do not have any children or pets myself, but enjoy working with children and an animal lover.  Coming from a teacher's background with experience in the school workplace, I maintain strong caregiving rules as necessary.
