Let’s face it, connecting with someone virtually is not as easy as it in person, but you can do it.

Bring The Energy!

Tap into your inner drama nerd. Lean forward, find your light, use a lot of inflection in your voice, and make big gestures. It might feel a little odd during the sitting but it will make an impact on the other side of the screen and make the child feel comfortable to engage.

Keep The Conversation Flowing!

Don’t expect kids to be able to effortlessly carry a virtual conversation. Be prepared to ask lots of questions, offer prompts for activities, and have your own stories to tell to keep the conversation flowing. If you aren’t prepared with concrete ways to fill the time you’ll lose their attention, fast!
