If you’re interested in finding the babysitter or nanny that’s the right fit for your family, interviews are a fantastic way to get to know your options better. One of the ingredients of a successful interview is having some good questions to ask. With the right questions, you’ll be able to learn important information to help you make your decision.

  1. How has your perception of child care changed over the years?
This gives you insight into whether the candidate is adaptable and open to change.
  2. What is it about the child care industry that interests you? What about our family makes you interested in working for us?
This gives you insight into what drives your potential caregiver in making their decisions.
  3. What do you think former employers will say about you when we call?
You’ll be able to hear the caregiver’s perspective on how they view themselves and how they think others view them.
  4. What does a good day and a bad day at work look like for you?
This will show you what the candidate focuses on and what their priorities are. The positives and the negatives.

Bottom line: the purpose of these questions will ultimately help you get to know the character of your potential candidate.
