Just when we thought 2021 was going to be “our” year, once again we were bamboozled by COVID-19. So, as we look toward 2022 let’s keep the hope alive. The next 365 days will be better. They have to be, right? As you throw around your options for how to say “see ya” to this year and welcome the new one, here are some ways to celebrate.
Stay In and Win
If a night at home feels like the right way to celebrate New Year’s Eve, it doesn’t have to be boring. Here are two ideas to make the most of the final hours of 2021 while hanging in your comfiest clothes.
Casual Fun
Sometimes you want to celebrate the New Year but the thought of leaving the house sounds miserable. Instead, host your own small get-together. And even better, do it in a way that’s not stressful.
Here’s how:
- Have a pajama party theme and ask everyone attending to wear their most comfortable sleepwear. This makes for an evening without Spanx or worrying about your hair being perfect.
- Order a New Year’s Eve Party Kit that has everything you need to decorate for the holiday. It will come straight to your door and all you have to do is spend a few minutes putting things where they belong.
- For food, ask each person to bring an appetizer in a disposable container to share. Or, have your gathering catered (and by catered we mean order from your favorite grab-and-go restaurant and pick up everything you need from main dishes to silverware).
Quiet and Nice
Picture this: it’s 12:05 am on January 1 and you’re hopping into bed. After a low-key, but fun, New Year’s Eve celebration with your family, you are officially closing your eyes just five minutes into the new year. Does that sound peaceful? Here’s how to make it happen.
On New Year’s Eve day start the easy preparation for the night. Depending on your kid’s ages work with them to create DIY streamers, noise-makers, and party hats. Then, between dinner and bedtime, have your own New Year’s Eve celebration. It doesn’t matter if it’s not officially midnight. There are plenty of ways to stream the ball drop early and still get the kids to bed on time. And if you’re not too tired, stay up for the real ball drop. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a second celebration with your partner.
Get out and about
Hang With Friends
Maybe hosting all the fun at your house isn’t intriguing but you don’t want to go out on the town. Talk to a few friends or neighbors and see if anyone else is interested in hosting a New Year’s Eve party. Suggest option two above so no one feels like they have to do a ton of work before and during the party.
And if your friends or neighbors have no interest in hosting either, try to make reservations at a local restaurant. Have an early dinner and then enjoy a few drinks or head home to enjoy the ball drop.
Without A Doubt, Go All Out
It’s been a long year. If you’re ready to party ‘til morning, we’ll raise a glass for you! Take the opportunity to get dressed up, feel fancy, and enjoy a night out with your partner. There are endless options when it comes to New Year’s Eve parties. Simply do a search in Google and see what’s available in your area. If possible, opt for an all-inclusive deal that takes care of your food and drinks for the whole night.
Several ride-sharing companies even offer free rides home which is all the more reason to go out and have some (responsible) fun. Be sure to book your sitter early so when the holiday nears you’re ready for nothing but fun!
Whether you decide to stay in or commit to dancing the night away, look at the last day of 2021 as an opportunity to reflect on the prior 364 days. And then allow yourself to turn your attention forward and focus on the possibilities you have in the new year. See 2022 as a new beginning, a fresh start. Cheers!
