Care for Non-Speaking Autistic Child
Posted by Daniel V. on 3/31/2025

- $18.00 per hour

Our son is 9 years old with Autism Spectrum Disorder and non-speaking. With encouragement, he will make attempts to use his AAC device to point to things he wants. At times, he will use hand gestures to indicate yes or no and will take your hand and lead you to what he wants (i.e. put on shoes, food item in pantry). He is very active, constantly playing with balloons, bouncy balls, walking around the entire house and on our back patio. Eating: He requires assistance in using a fork or spoon to eat otherwise he will attempt to eat with his bare hands. Toileting: He will sit on the toilet but must be led there periodically to be given the opportunity otherwise he will soil his pullup. He can help minimally in putting on his pullup and pants afterward but struggles with his fine motor skills. Please be prepared to provide any certifications for caregiving such as CPR, First Aid, etc.
