Job Title: Energetic And Patient Special Needs Nanny Needed For 13-year-old Autistic Child In Pittsburgh
Posted by Chelsey C. on 11/18/2024
- $17.00 per hour
We are a family of 3 - Jordon (mom), Chelsey (mommy Chel) and Jacob, living on the North Side of Pittsburgh (Marshall-Shadeland).
Jacob was born with a rare syndrome called Xia-Gibbs syndrome. He’s also diagnosed with autism and an intellectual disability which significantly impacts his life. Developmentally he’s much like a toddler. He communicates verbally, fairly well though it may be difficult to understand him at first. He loves playing pretend and collecting cards (hotel room keys, gift cards, etc.) and paperwork (which he calls "data"). He struggles to cope with big feelings which usually arise when he cannot do or have something that he wants. This will usually lead to screaming and crying. He is rarely physically aggressive but every once in a while he’ll swat someone out of frustration. He often has multiple outbursts each day but is usually able to calm down within a few minutes with validation of his feelings and redirection from adults. Jacob wears a pull-up and needs help using the bathroom. He is a very silly and loving boy that’s always making those around him smile and laugh.
