We are seeking a compassionate and experienced community habilitation provider to work one-on-one with our 15-year-old son. He has Level 3 Autism and benefits from consistent, structured support. We are looking for someone who can help him engage in meaningful activities, develop skills for greater independence, and encourage him to explore activities outside the home while respecting his routines and needs.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing and maintaining a structured daily routine.
• Provide consistent support for his personal goals, including becoming more active and engaging in the community.
• Encourage participation in recreational and educational activities outside the home, such as going to parks, libraries, or community centers.
• Employ patience and effective communication strategies to help him adapt to new activities while minimizing distress.
• Use de-escalation techniques when necessary to manage aggressive behaviors in a calm, safe manner.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment at all times.
Qualifications:
• Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly Level 3 Autism.
• Proven ability to manage and de-escalate aggressive behaviors with professionalism and care.
• Knowledge of behavior management strategies and sensory needs.
• Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and understanding in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Flexible, reliable, and adaptable to his specific needs and preferences.
Our son is a bright, unique individual who thrives in a structured environment. He is very set in his routines and requires time and patience to adapt to new activities. While he can become aggressive at times, especially when routines are disrupted, the right candidate will possess the skills to manage these situations safely and effectively.
