We seek a patient and engaged caregiver who has experience working with neurodivergent children. The position is Monday-Thursday from 9am to 5:30pm. The caregiver will meet Josephine at school, work closely with Josephine and her teachers at the Hirsch Academy in Decatur, and facilitate activities in and outside of the house after school. We live about 25 minutes from Hirsch in the Tucker/Stone Mountain area.

Josephine benefits from consistent boundaries delivered in a supportive, nurturing, and positive tone. Josephine participates in DBT therapy and equine therapy. Our care team consists of Hirsch faculty and staff, Josephine's DBT therapist, and her psychiatrist. Our family prioritizes open communication and collaboration with the care team, and we would like to include Josephine's caregiver as part of this team. This includes sharing successful coping strategies, trying strategies suggested by the care team, and emailing "rose and thorn" updates once per week (positives and challenges).

Josephine is independent in many ways and is extremely caring and observant. Her mental health struggles make it very difficult for her to stay regulated, and in periods of dysregulation, she appears as agitated, aggressive, anxious, and depressed. She needs someone with her who is patient, empathetic, and able to be firm with boundaries while communicating in a very calm manner.

Requirements:
- Experience working with neurodivergent kids
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Consistent availability on weekdays from 9am to 5:30pm
- Passion for working with a child who has special needs
- Lots of patience!
- Willing to complete a background check
