Need occasional back-up caregiver for my uncle at times when I am unable to stay with him. He experiences sporadic mood shifts due to the dementia. He needs someone who is able to defuse him, converse with him in a way that makes him feel heard and validated (even if what he's saying doesn't totally make sense, make him meals, and supervise him to ensure his safety. He sometimes gets confused on how to get to the bathroom, but he responds positively with gentle guidance to the bathroom and reassurances that he's got it and is doing fine. His core personality is that of quick-witted jokester who loves to talk about his late-father (Melvin) and how he was an Engineer at the Rad (Radiation) Lab, his time as at Cal State Hayward (now called Cal State East Bay), his time in the Navy, and his many decades Real Estate in the Bay Area. He does respond to music therapy, but it's not all the time. A consistent indicator that he's happy and in a positive state is if he starts singing a song.
