Part-Time Support (Position Located in Long Beach)

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Support Companion to assist and support a kind, sweet, and non-speaking autistic seven-year-old girl. This position is essential for ensuring her safety and engagement in meaningful activities. The ideal candidate will be dependable, possess a strong work ethic, and be committed to growing with our family. This role requires up to 10 to 15 hours per week, primarily during evenings Monday to Friday, and weekend days. Open to splitting role between two individuals to accommodate schedule availability, and have general schedule flexibility.
As a Support Companion, you will provide one-on-one assistance to help her navigate daily activities, support her social and sensory needs, and engage her in activities that foster learning and socialization. You will be part of a supportive team that includes her family and other professionals, all working together to help her grow, thrive, and be safe.
Responsibilities:
• Provide consistent, attentive one-on-one support to ensure the safety and well-being of the child.
• Engage in activities that align with her interests, fostering her sense of joy and exploration.
• Support her in community-based activities, promoting interaction and social learning.
• Adapt activities to her needs and communicate with her through non-verbal methods (e.g., gestures, visual aids, and alternative communication tools).
• Maintain an open and positive approach that helps her feel secure and understood.
• Collaborate with parents and the child’s support team to develop and follow an individualized plan that supports her growth and engagement.
• Be a reliable and responsible presence who models patience and understanding.
• Participate in training and be open to feedback to improve the quality of support provided.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene by practicing proper hand washing and promoting cleanliness to minimize the spread of germs and ensure a safe environment.
