We're looking for an aid to go with our seven year old son, A, to a ranch class in Lafayette, California. Our son has Down syndrome and autism and still developing language. The job will be in Tuesdays 3:00 - 6:15pm starting asap until May 13th, and includes the following responsibilities:
-Constant monitoring and assistance to keep A safe during the class.
-To help A stay with the group and participate in class activities.
-The ability and understanding to help A participate in the class as fully as possible, and modify activities as needed. May include modifying work, modeling how to do a task, or providing hand over hand assistance.
-To assist A in accessing the space as needed, including offering him a hand for walking through tough terrain if needed
-Being comfortable navigating and being outdoors
-To help A with communication barriers as needed

Applicants must have experience working with children with disabilities and understand positive ways of managing behaviors. Preferred applicants will have experience working with children who are or verbal and have a basic knowledge of ASL.
