I was homeschooled pre-k through the end of high school, which gave me the freedom to start babysitting for working moms once I turned 13. I started babysitting for neighbors and family friends during the day and then would start my school work in the afternoon after working a morning shift. I’ve been doing childcare for the past 17 years off and on. I worked for different churches I went to and met clients through there who then recommended me to their friends. At those churches I would be watching 2-10 children at a time, on my own. I’ve been a live in nanny, in Australia, for a French family off and on (during 2016-2018). During that time I also bartended downtown in Baltimore City from 2015-2019, but stopped because it was not a career I wanted to invest in long term. During the pandemic I picked up nannying again Read more and took care of two boys up until 2022. I played outside with them, did crafts, played make believe, got both of them prepared for school, and supported them as they progressed through their various developmental stages. At the beginning of 2022 I started working a second job at a locked down Mental Hospital. Shortly after I began working at the hospital, the family I nannied for moved to a different state. During my time at the mental hospital, I was a Float Mental Health Worker and would go to a different unit in the hospital every shift. We had 12 different units, where people of various ages and diagnosis' stayed for anywhere from 3 days to 2 years. The particularly relevant part of my job is that I worked with children ages 6-12, neurodivergent children ages 6-17, and male/female adolescents ages 13-17. At the hospital I did safety rounds, enforced routines and boundaries, deescalated conflicts, taught emotional regulation, and offered emotional support. I got certified in First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. In January of this year I began working a second job again, this time for 988. I worked at the hospital up until this past June, then I switched to full time working remote for the adolescent Crisis Chatline. I'm going back to school so I can become a practicing therapist and am currently in a Prison Yoga Teacher Training. This year I plan to start teaching yoga at elementary schools as well. I would love to invest in your child/children and help them be consistent with their routines, teach them to set/respect boundaries, show them ways to emotionally regulate, offer emotional support, and have fun with them!
