Hello! My name is Joi, and I bring over 10 years of experience in childcare and education, working with children aged four months to seventeen. I am a former school founder, special education teacher, and passionate advocate for helping young people navigate the world. I hold an M.Ed. from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education and a Master’s in Special Education from California State University East Bay. My career has included roles as a Health, Wellness, and Counseling Fellow at Eagle Rock School in Estes Park, CO, and as an English Teaching Fellow in Malaysia through the Fulbright program. As an Education Specialist in Oakland, I designed accessible learning environments, implemented accommodations, and provided academic support to students facing learning challenges. I also managed Individual Education Plans (IEPs), tracking progress and facilitating meetings with families to ensure student success. I have a particular interest in supporting students with Read more executive function skills, writing, reading comprehension, and reading fluency. I offer virtual support currently and will be relocating back to the Bay Area in June for in-person sessions. My approach is focused on building meaningful relationships and creating innovative, inclusive learning experiences. If you think we might be a great fit, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I look forward to the opportunity to support your child’s growth.
