I started out my childcare career back in 2001 in St. Mary’s, GA. My husband was a submariner in the Navy. I started out my career in a daycare center setting but then transitioned over to running a daycare out of our home through the MWR program on base. When my husband was accepted into the Navy officer training program, we moved to Rhode Island, while he attended the initial training program. I again worked in a daycare center setting in town. Next we were off to Daytona, FL where my husband was finishing his college courses to became a commissioned Navy pilot. While my husband attended college, I worked as a nanny for a family in Deltona, FL. Once my husband was commissioned, we moved on to Milton, FL where he attended Navy flight training in Pensacola, FL. I again worked in a daycare center setting in Milton, FL Read more until I decided to take a job as a nanny to a military family while my husband continued his flight training program. By the time my husband finished flight training, I was pregnant with our first child. When our first son was born in January of 2008, my husband’s military officer career allowed me to be lucky enough to be a stay at home mom in San Diego, CA. By December of 2009, we had our second son and I continued to be a stay at mom. As a military family, we made two more moves, one to Key West, FL and one to Norfolk, VA. In June of 2016 my husband retired after 20 years of service and we made our final move back to Sandy Lake, PA, where my husband and I grew up. Now that our boys are in high school, and are much more independent, I’m looking forward to finding a family that could use an extra hand taking care of their little ones.
