I have been a babynurse for 20 years and a licensed nurse for longer. After years of working in hospitals, I was so lucky to meet and be trained by a British baby nurse.Since I have always had a “gift” with babies, this was an extension of practical knowledge. I meet parents & baby as they arrive home from the hospital and stay from 2 weeks to 6+ months (occasionally shorter). Normally I offer 24/7 care and support to mom, baby and family, but more recently have been doing more night care. I have joined families after a few weeks to help catch up on sleep. Whatever the need is to help. In addition to care of the newborn and all things related (including care of clothing, linen, baby's room, and bottles and/or breastfeeding equipment), I provide support and information to family. . I can assist in helping to establish Read more a routine that encourages baby to sleep through the night sooner if that is what you are looking for. If mom has decided to breast-feed, I will do everything I can to make this go as smoothly as possible. I am a lactation counselor and can assist with most issue than can arise. This includes care of equipment, bottles, and storage. If the decision is to bottle feed; again, I take care of all supplies and can also do night feedings, allowing parents to rest. I have experience with twins and triplets as well as singletons. In the past few years, I have had the pleasure of working with many families utilizing surrogacy. Although I am primarily based in southern California, I am willing to and have traveled anywhere. As a nurse, I am CPR certified and immunizations are current. When working 24/7, I charge by the day. Whether it is a first baby, and parents want help along with a safety net, support and information, or the most recent addition to the family, where parents need that extra time to help their other child/ children accept the new addition to their family, and help in general, a babynurse can be extremely helpful in establishing a new family routine that works for everyone. Need help preparing for baby? I'm happy to offer information on what is needed and what makes life easier with a newborn. I'm also more than happy to assist with preparations. I am available for sleep training.

This is a childcare reference for Debra Hessong, who was our full-time, live-in baby nurse and toddler nanny for 2.5 years from November 2011 to April 2014, and is now a beloved “aunt” to our twin boys, Ari and Leo Ratner. Debra was quite literally a lifesaver to our family. She joined us a few days before my twins were born and waited on standby for them to arrive. When we came home, she took over every duty and worked nonstop for close to a year, with very few breaks, to make sure that the babies were safe, secure and happy. We don’t know what we would have done without her. Debra was able to get our twins to eat and to sleep on a regular schedule in very short order. When they were sick, she stayed up all night with them making sure they were safe. She aided me as well with breastfeeding and formula feeding when that became necessary and aided me in a non-biased way to feed them, supplying herbal supplements and tips as I needed them. We could never have lived through the first year without her. A few delightful things that you can always expect with Debra is incredible professionalism, a calm demeanor, many years of nursing training (which you never hope to need, but which is amazing to have available if you do), a constant drive to learn the best ways to make children happy and regulated, and an unmitigated desire to always keep learning. At my request, she has accompanied me to countless classes, playdates, doctor’s visits and shopping trips. She always fed the boys the healthiest food and prepared it like a professional chef would. She’s traveled with us and always been willing to turn her apartment during travel into a home base for the twins, filled with toys, clothes and toddler beds. She’s worked ceaselessly to make sure that their environment is a safe and calm one. She is the hardest worker you will ever meet.
