Certifications and Training: I have an associates Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as special training Montessori Education. I am a Certified Nurses Assistant and have had special training in newborn and Infant care. CPR Certified. In school to become an R.N. . Having been a nanny for over 10 years, a Montessori preschool and Kindergarten teacher, I make a strong effort every day to apply compassion, gentleness, humor, patience, and kindness to my interactions with others, and with the children I nanny. I aim to make a lasting impact on the world around me by being an example of how to live a positive, uplifting, healthy and thoughtful life. Many of the parents and children I’ve worked with have told me that my patience and ability to explain and teach in a way that is entertaining and fun is a major reason they appreciate me. I use positive Read more discipline when working with children. This means that I use positive language and lead by example. When a child has misbehaved, I first kneel down at their eye level and have them stop and look me in the eyes. I do this so that they know that I expect them to take personal responsibility for their actions. I intentionally soften my eyes and use a stern but kind tone of voice so that they remain open to what I have to say, and so they know that I am trying to help them. I point out the impact that their action has had on things around them, such as causing another child to cry or be upset. I then ask them to tell me their side of the story. Why they did what they did. I am patient to hear them out so that I can understand where they are coming from and help them process their feelings. I ask them to consider if they would like to be treated in the way that they just treated another person or situation. I explain, and ask the child to explain what some of the natural consequences of their actions.
