I work part-time as a CNA, but spend more time as a substitute for teachers and paraprofessionals in local schools. I am an empty nester and enjoy being around children. I often provide emergency babysitting for some younger friends, whose children actually prefer me because I am very active with them (going to the park, swimming, playing catch, riding bicycles, backyard games, etc.). I have raised two sons, one who was diagnosed with ADHD and the other with Asperger Syndrome (a high-functioning form of autism), conditions that often swim in the same genetic pool. I played on their strengths when offering activity choices to them, and today they are both doing well as young adults following their own career paths. When my children were very young, I taught Sunday school to grade school aged children while running a licensed in-home childcare center.
