As an only girl of a family of five, taking care of children has always been something that has come very naturals to me. I am the second oldest and have three younger brothers which I was very much involved in caring and the upbringing of their childhood. I knew from a very early age that working in childcare and education would always be something that I would continue to do for the rest of my life. I studied education and human services at Western Washington University. I have worked with children of all different backgrounds whether that be autism, whether that be foster care or whether that be nannying for local families as well as working as a pre-K and preschool teacher. This last year I was working at a therapeutic high school as the lead high school teacher for special ed . I have many different trainings from Read more CPR to CPI to trauma informed care, to reeducation and I look forward to being able to connect with some families here in the Portland area as I’m starting to re-enter in the childcare fields. I am a very warm and outgoing individual. I love spending time outside whether that be gardening or going on hikes or just having a day at the coast with my friends. I really love learning new things and being able to share that knowledge with children. I think one really amazing thing about working with children and education especially, is that there is so much that the children and students are actually teaching you, and I find that very rewarding and there’s really never a dull moment. I have years and years of experience in many different Environments while providing education and care for children and students. I love to make things fun and exciting for children as well as really providing support and a safety net for them to understand boundaries as well as really learning how to Express and communicate their thoughts and feelings. I look forward to connecting with some families out here in the Portland area and please reach out if you have any other questions or concerns or just want to chat about a potential position. I am all ears and I really look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Grace.
