I am 31 years old, love kids, and lately I've been having major baby fever! My husband and I are waiting 1-2 years before starting a family, so I would love to care for another family in the meantime. I have years of experience working with children. In my high school days, I babysat for about 3 years and taught horseback riding to autistic youth. In college, I volunteered at 2 different after-school programs. In the summer after I graduated college, I taught reading skills to kids ages 6-18. Throughout my twenties, I taught electrical engineering for 3rd and 4th graders and worked at an inpatient mental health clinic for kids ages 11-16. In 2020, I entered a master's program for Marriage and Family Therapy. I graduated in December 2023 with a 3.9 GPA. During my time in grad school, I took courses in childhood development, the life cycle of Read more the family, and family therapy techniques. I completed an internship for 12 months as an in-home therapist, working with at-risk youth and their families. My clients were between the ages of 3 and 16. I am happy working with kids of all ages, but my preference is to work with infants at this time. I want to prepare myself for having a baby of my own, and right now I feel like I know nothing! I'd love to work with a family that can teach me the ropes of infant childcare. I would probably need some guidance at first but I'm sure I could catch on quickly. I recently bought a set of books on the subject so I can supplement with my own learning - but nothing beats hands-on learning.
