I am interested in a babysitting young children and love infants and young children. I own a home in Hubbardston, Ma. and am a retired school teacher. My educational background is working in the school system with hearing impaired students. I provided services for students with significant hearing losses who receive instruction in both mainstream and special education classes. I would meet with students to review, simplify and explain that information . These are hearing impaired students in a mainstream classroom in a public school. I would help students comprehend difficult concepts by making connections to their background knowledge and personal experiences. I assisted students as needed during class activities by assessing their level of understanding then providing access to difficult language and concepts. I would encourage students to be active and independent participants. I would provide my co-teacher with daily updates if students performance in their mainstream classes. I Read more would seek out and offer additional resources to support and enhance instruction in the special educational setting. My job title was" Oral Transliterator" which as the teacher would talk I would mouth the words the teacher would be saying, but I would not use my voice. I do not know sign language. I worked for the "Capitol Region Education Council, located in Hartford, Ct. We had schools in the area where hearing impaired children would mainstream. I have completed courses in Hearing Aid and FM Technology for students. My previous job was working" For the Village For Families and Children" located in Hartford, Ct. I had out reach offices in New Britain, Bristol and Newington, Ct. There I worked with the elderly and single parents. We ran Project Home Share and Family Home Share. I have been instrumental in assisting numerous Newington residents fine affordable and convenient housing. I also helped single parents find appropriate housing. When I worked in Newington, Ct. I worked with the Town of Newington to place single mothers and children in housing, often placing two separate families together. I also worked with New Britain Senior Center helping the elderly with housing. All these jobs fell in some cases under Human Services. I am comfortable w/pets and light house keeping. I live with my husband and two small dogs.
