Hi! My name is Natalie Jacobson and I am from San Francisco. I am a recent graduate of the University of Vermont and I am moving to Portland in August (I miss the West Coast!). I have about 9 years of experience in childcare and would consider myself a fun, adventurous, patient, attentive, and responsible caregiver. I worked at a summer camp the past two summers during which I was responsible for creating positive learning spaces for groups of children while ensuring to be attentive to their needs. Through my various childcare experiences, I have learned about the importance of a balance between responsibility and providing an exciting and enjoyable environment for children. Given the current state and uncertainty of our world, I believe this is a time in which everybody, children especially, need positive and motivating influences in their lives. I would be happy to provide tutoring and/or other Read more forms of educational learning to help address the issue of lack of school and/or camps. I am happy to help out with anything you may need including errands, preparing meals, cleaning, etc. Working with kids is truly one of my passions and I believe I am fit to be a constructive and happy influence on your child's life, while ensuring that everything that needs to be done is accomplished and your child stays safe. In high school, I tutored elementary school students at underfunded schools through an organization called Reading Partners. Twice a week I met with the same student and helped them with homework involving math, reading, history, and writing. Meeting with the same student every week for an extended period of time allowed me to create a relationship with the student which further helped me cater my tutoring techniques to their personal learning style. This experience taught me the importance of being a consistent and reliable presence in a child’s life. In 2018, I began an internship with Common Roots Farm during which I was a Garden Production and Education Intern for their Growing Gardens, Growing Kids Program. I worked on the farm growing and maintaining organic food plants in 50 raised beds while hosting on-site educational field trips to children in Pre K - 5th grade. I enjoyed this internship so much that I became a Farm to School Educator Intern the following semester during which I taught Farm to School lessons to over 1,200 elementary school students. I have ample experience working with children and I am excited to begin my move to Portland!
