I have experience as an interim, full-time nanny, babysitter and tutor. I am also a mom of a teenager, so I also have experience employing live-in and live-out nannies, babysitters and tutors. I believe this gives me valuable insight into the perspectives of both families and caregivers. I know who makes the rules (you!), how I want to be treated, and the information I need from parents/ guardians to be an effective caregiver. I also understand the concerns parents have regarding their children's safety, well-being and happiness. If there is flexibility in my schedule, I will always do my best to accommodate last minute requests. I know what it feels like to get stuck at work or in traffic! I love reading; indoor and outdoor activities; board games; sports (shooting baskets, kicking the soccer ball, throwing a frisbee or football, etc.) and doing crafts. If you have costumes, we can Read more dress up! I do not encourage screen-time of any sort and will only allow this if explicitly specified by the parent(s). I consider myself to be an extension of your rules and routines, so I will need to understand your family's specific preferences. For older kids that have their own phones, computers and/or televisions, I will do my best to enforce your rules and limitations but will avoid conflict if this becomes an issue. I am happy to discuss your family's specific expectations. I am strong believer in routines, especially for younger children. If I am new to your child/ children, maintaining their normal routine will help them to feel safe and settled. Having a specific activity planned they enjoy will also ease the transition. I am happy to feeds kids if I am there during a meal and will appreciate guidance from you regarding food routines (don't let the peas touch the mashed potatoes!), dietary restrictions, rules regarding "snacks" (junk food), sweets and candy. I will also do my best to adhere to any specific religious requirements (with detailed instructions), such as keeping kosher, Islamic rules regarding what is/ is not permissible to eat, and other guidelines related to your family's faith. Please note that I am pescatarian, so I will need instructions regarding the preparation of meat or chicken. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees from a university in the northeast.
