My childcare philosophy is rooted in the belief that children are capable, curious individuals who deserve to be treated with respect and understanding. I strive to foster a nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore, learn, and grow. Instead of expecting children in my care to automatically respect me from the get go, I aim to earn their respect through consistent, positive interactions and by demonstrating mutual respect with active listening, respecing their boundaries, fostering open communication, practicing empathy, and apologizing when necessary, just as I would like them to do. I believe that understanding children's behavior is key to effective discipline. Instead of automatically punishing children for their actions, I take the time to ask "why" and understand their perspective. This approach helps to build trust and open communication. By avoiding assumptions and punishment, I encourage children to take responsibility for their actions and learn from their mistakes.
