My name is Mia, I am currently 21 years old, and was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. I graduated in the year 2021 and I was in varsity track all four years and studied, theater tech, art, and floral design. I lived with both of my parents until I got married in January of 2024. I have a teenage sister, a kid brother, and a toddler brother with Aperts syndrome. It took some time for my family and I to adjust to having a baby with special needs in the family but at this point it’s the normal for us. My husband and I met in 8th grade, and we are both Christians along with the rest of my family. I have been a Christian since I was 9 years old and God will always be the most important part of my life over everything no matter what. Read more My husband and I just moved from our first duty station on Fort Cavazos where he was stationed for 3 years, and is now stationed at Fort Liberty for another 3 years. I like working in childcare, because I tend to connect and create a bond with the children I work with, and I think working with children can be fun. I want children of my own later on, so I also think of working with children as a good way to prepare myself for that. The experience I have in childcare is being an Afterschool/Day Camp counselor and site director at the YMCA in my hometown and being a Child and Youth Program Assistant for the USA Army Child and Youth Services Program. I have taken many multiple online and in-person trainings for each of those jobs. When I first started working with children I was shy and hesitant of how to watch, care for, and to even discipline them. Overtime the children and I became more comfortable with each other. They grew to know and love me, creating a bond between us. They even began to have more respect for me, because I disciplined them when they needed to be while also showing compassion and understanding. By doing so they took me more seriously, knowing I was in charge, and they couldn’t run wild and do whatever they wanted. By me getting to know each of them individually I knew the different ways to communicate and treat them all ,because of their uniqueness, and for that they trusted me and felt very comfortable with me. The only downside to working with children is getting close to them and having to leave them like I had to. I miss them, but I’m glad I was able to have that experience with them, and for that they’ll always be an important part and memory in my life.
