Hi there! My name is Aaliyah and I am currently working as a substitute teacher with all grades including special education. I am extremely patient and very loving. I am the oldest of 6 with the second oldest being 20 and the youngest, 11. As the oldest sibling, I have my share of experience with helping my parents raise them. I also am the second oldest of many younger cousins who I have baby sat since they were infants. Now as they are older, instead of having their parents ask me to baby sit, they are asking their parents to go out for date night so that I can baby sit. I went off to college and would come back home during the summers and worked for my aunt's daycare center in Fuquay-Varina. I assisted in the infant room and floated between the preschoolers and school age kids but my Read more main room was the one year old room. I conducted daily indoor and outdoor activities that involved arts and crafts, reading, singing, and free learning. I changed diapers, assisted with feedings during breakfast, lunch and snack time. Some times I would help in the kitchen preparing the meals for the day. I made sure the room was sanitized and disinfected and sent home daily reports for each child. I did this for 2 years. Following those 2 summers and holiday breaks, I worked at a summer camp for Transformation Church. I was over the 6-7 year olds. Here I was responsible for creating daily and weekly activities and hands on projects pertaining to the weekly themes. I absolutely love arts and crafts. I feel that it is important to have that creative time for children to express themselves and learn while having fun. I also supervised the group during field trips. I started substitute teaching in 2024 for WCPSS. What sets me apart is that I am able to care for multiple children at once and being able to multitask while being pulled in many different directions, catering to each child's specific needs. I can say that I have been caring for children my entire life and one thing is for certain, they bring me so much joy! It is nothing like having a child brighten up your day.
