Hello! My name is Jess, I am currently the manager of a coffee shop, but looking to transition out of that role as I go back to school online. I have CPR and food safety certifications due to my position, and will be adding more online training for CPR and First Aid to stay up to date. Throughout my working life in coffee shops and cafes, I have gained experience in managing my own time, teaching and training coworkers, and most importantly, customer service. Although I love my role in these spaces, I have noticed that my favorite part about it is getting to know the families that come in regularly, and supporting them the best I can when they have little ones running around or needing things. I love the small moments when I get to play hide and seek behind a counter to distract a crying kid, or Read more helping them pick out their book to read while their mom finally gets a sip of her coffee. I do come with less experience than some other candidates, but I can offer these things: I am a mature adult that wants a family of their own someday, so I care deeply about the safety and nurturing of your family. I want to make a connection and promote fun and learning, while being the one to keep any child safe and feeling protected. I have learned how to handle the stress of a busy cafe with kids screaming, have held and changed babies when someone close to me needed a second to themselves, and even soothed the tears that come with a bumped knee or scrape. Overall, I engage with kids when I can and honestly look forward to it. Growing minds are fascinating and fun, and I get so much joy out of getting to experience the world through a kids eyes!
