Hello! My name is Raquel and I would love to share my background and experience to see if I can be of any service to your family. From 2014-2015, I worked as a preschool teacher at a NAEYC-accredited institution in Hampton Roads, VA. My work focused on maintaining the safety, stimulation and support of a classroom of 18 four-year olds. I enjoyed the opportunity this position served to create curriculum-related arts/crafts & activities for the students each day. In 2015, I moved to NYC after signing with an acting agent, and began my childcare journey in Manhattan. I was a part-time nanny for an UWS family with three children (ages 3, 5 & 8) for one school year. My responsibilities included school pick-up, attending appointments, coordinating playdates, communicating with coaches/tutors/therapists, cooking dinner, homework help, light housekeeping and bath/bedtime. I assisted the family in their move out to Long Island during Read more the summertime and still help out on occasion. In 2016, I was a part-time nanny for an UES family with one child (age 4). My responsibilities focused more on tutoring and prepping the four-year old for the kindergarten admission process. We spent most of our time together reading/studying at NYPL or exploring museums around Manhattan. I enjoyed this role because it allowed me to educate and empower this young girl with academic and social skills to prepare her for kindergarten. My next position was as a caregiver for Artist Babysitting. This babysitting agency introduced me to various families around NYC, one of which I ended up working for part-time for one school year. The position was for an UWS family with three children (ages 9, 13, 16). My responsibilities included driving for school pick-up, attending sports practices and tutor sessions, managing household deliveries/appointments, holiday & sick day coverage, homework help, cooking dinner, dog walking, and running errands. I had the pleasure of caring for the children during summer 2019 in the Hamptons, while the parents worked in Manhattan. Having recently graduated from The New School with a BS in Media Studies, I am currently working as a video producer for a digital magazine. Fortunately, my schedule is very flexible, so I am looking to fill up my free time by lending my services to a family seeking some extra help. I have experience working in morning childcare positions, and am interested in AM/weekend positions.
