Hi there! My name is Julia but you can call me J. I’m nonbinary and my pronouns are they/them. I am a babysitter/nanny so that I can build on my experience working with kids as I pursue a career in education and youth mentorship. Working with kids comes very naturally to me as I meet each of them exactly where they are and find ways for us to connect and relate to one another. I am very considerate of neurodivergence, heightened sensitivities, and disability. I love learning about what makes kids tick by actively listening and being genuinely engaged in their interests, being a model for vulnerability by talking about our challenges and feelings, and helping them build self awareness and confidence by paying close attention to the things they say about themselves and others. I am very patient, lighthearted, creative, and empathetic. I love having fun playing sports and Read more board games, learning from nature together, and helping with school projects. I am very tidy, responsible, dependable, and respectful. I have a variety of professional experience including tutoring for elementary-middle school kids, personal training, and project management. Some of my current volunteer experience includes working with the local nonprofit Classrooms for Climate Action by assisting elementary-high school teachers with in-school programming. I am an approved BVSD volunteer. Lastly, I follow a vegan and gluten-free diet, but I am willing/able to prepare healthy snacks and meals that are neither. And some things that I love doing are reading, backpacking, cooking, pretty much any athletic activity, lounging, and spending time in the woods with my partner.
