Hi there - my name is Abby and I am a recent graduate from UCSB with extensive child care experience. I started babysitting around my neighborhood at 15 and discovered that I have a love and passion for working with kids! I got so much joy out of my time babysitting that I decided to start working summers as a sleep away camp counselor on Catalina Island for 2 years (with 7-8 year old age group). I spent my days guiding campers to participate successfully in camp activities (anything from arts and crafts to stand up paddle boarding in the ocean) and carrying out established roles for supervising camper health and safety. I also currently work as the Executive Director of Aloha Beach Camp (with 4-16 year age range), where I engage with campers at the beach, help them surf, swim, and play. I absolutely adore helping kids to be Read more active and creative! Because these experiences include supervising kids near water, I am a certified lifeguard (which encompasses CPR, AED, and First Aid training) and have been privately lifeguarding for nearly 5 years. I am even currently pursuing my Red Cross Instructor certification. I have worked with all age groups, as this past year I worked for 2 families with infants (1-3 year olds), a family with elementary-age kids, and my camp jobs allowed me to work with all ages. I was a tutor for my high school's National Honor Society, so if your child needs help with homework, I'm happy to help out with school, too!
