Hello! My name is Alyssa Starrantino and I am excited to potentially be your next sitter or nanny. I have my Master’s Degree in Social Work and a strong background in trauma-informed care, family systems, and social-emotional / developmental learning spanning across the life cycle. In my previous roles as therapist and youth counselor, I have taken a creative and playful approach, and I am passionate about the process of attunement and learning through co-creation. I love engaging in outdoor play and exploration with children, as well as art/crafts, reading, music, games and more. I strongly believe in building personalized and caring relationships with each child and parent, and that those relationships create a safe container for the child to feel safe to grow and flourish. That being said, I have excellent professional boundaries and I am well-aware of the differences between the babysitter/nanny and therapist roles, but I believe the skillset from my time as a therapist is highly applicable with childcare. Regardless of my role, I believe you as the parent are the expert on your child, and I am here to support you and your child during this formative time. I am highly experienced, adept and calm in crisis prevention and intervention situations and I am comfortable working in unpredictable environments including the outdoors and high-risk situations both in my experience at The Charlton School and as a former nature camp counselor at Beaver Lake Nature Center. I have a variety of experience caregiving for friends and loved ones children starting from ages 2+. I also am comfortable and highly capable with organization, household tasks and errands. Reflecting on "what's next" after a recent job change, I feel deeply inspired at having the opportunity to make a difference in young children’s lives and their families, and be similarly enriched by them. I see working with children not as a "means to an end" on my career path, but something I truly enjoy doing.
