Hi my name is Karly! I’m finishing my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. I’ve been babysitting since I was 13 for family and friends up until I was 17. While babysitting I would also do cleaning as well. I worked in a daycare for a year and for about half of that year I worked in the infant room. I was the lead teacher for a few months before moving to the Springs. I love working with children and families; maintaining good relationships with all. I am CPR and first aid certified. I am currently available weekdays and weekends before 5pm, that can change if needed. It's a part time night job. Before moving to Colorado Springs I worked at Sunshine Childcare Center in Sterling Colorado. I was the lead teacher in the only infant room in Logan County. When working at the daycare I spent most of the Read more time in the infant room, and the toddler room when needed. The ages I worked with ranged from 8 weeks to three years old. My jobs in the infant room included: Creating a secure relationship with the infants: Caring for the infant/child’s basic needs; feeding, cleaning, diaper changes, ect. And activities that are enjoyable for the child and caretaker; reading books, playing, singing, ect. This is so the child is secure enough with the caretaker to explore their environment. I made infant specific lesson plans because all the infants I worked with were different ages and at different developmental milestones. I would help them with the milestone they were trying to reach. For example if an infant was trying to roll over, I would help them roll over to get them used to that feeling. I help them roll back over and help them roll on different sides. I would do this throughout the day. I would help them grow their social, emotional, motor, and cognitive skills as well. I implement what I know and if needed I do my own research. I would also communicate with the families, that's the most important part. I would ask questions about their baby to learn the little things that help the infant on a day-to-day basis. I would also communicate with them about their infant’s milestones. I would keep the environment clean, and I would keep the kids clean. I talked to the infants and introduced sign language early. I learned the infant's cues for tiredness, and hungriness, and learned their schedules as well. I love working with children and look forward to working with you!
