At age 12, my mother started an at home daycare and I started my official “career” working with kids. If you had asked me then, I would have said life was horrible and that I was forced to look after these kids against my will, but I must have liked it some because here I am today. As I developed my skills in caring for mostly infants and young children, I naturally continued to take on more babysitting and childcare jobs as a teen. Most of my jobs, (save a couple of random summer jobs during college like working farmer’s markets for a bakery-that was random!) have been childcare and provider roles. I received my degree in Psychology in 2018 and since then, have worked in the mental health field with children and teens aged 3-18 yo. I spent 6 years working in in-home therapy settings, helping kids use their Read more strengths to work through their needs and to develop skills and learn tools to be functional and healthy in their environments. In the past year, I furthered my focus and education to become a registered behavior technician-working with autistic children and helping them overcome their problem behaviors. Though I would not be working in my therapeutic capabilities as a sitter or nanny, I feel my experience and love for helping kids grow and learn makes me an exceptional choice for your childcare needs. I believe kids need structure and rules but also fun and understanding and I pride myself in having developed a balance in both areas through years of hands on experience and dedication. As mentioned, I will continue to work mornings in the ABA field as a therapist, but I’m excited to have an opportunity to take a step back from the seriousness of my morning role to have (responsible) fun with kids again! I love all creative activities from painting and arts and crafts to pottery—if you can make it with your hands, I’m in! I love to cook and dabble in baking. I love trying and learning new things but most of all, teaching those things to curious young minds. I love pets and have experience working with dogs big and small. Humble brag, I am also fluent in two languages other than English, so your little one might learn a few new words (if that’s ok with you, of course). I am available weekday afternoons and nights, 2:30pm-10:30pm (with some flexibility on weekends and occasional late night/early mornings). I hope to have the opportunity to work with you, soon!
