Having played sports competitively my whole life, my family understood the importance of having a nanny even until later ages to make sure my brother and I could get to our sports on time and that our house ran smoothly. When I got older I filled that sitter role in for my cousin’s kids who lived just down the street from us. At the time she had three kids under five so I jumped in when I could to provide some relief. I had the incredible experience of playing soccer at UW & UNM. During my time in college I coached for a local club and had the joy of working with kids as young as 4 and as old as 14. I also worked UW, UNM, and boys and girls club summer camps putting me responsible for up to 30 kids at a time, varying in age from 5-16 Read more years old. Now that I have graduated with my MS in New Mexico and have just moved up to Bellingham, I am looking to become a sitter as I explore future career paths. My time coaching has prepared me well for both the joys of being around kids, as well as getting them to do the things they have to, but don’t want to (like doing their homework or brushing their teeth). Having been a coach, I am Safesport certified (which includes courses on concussions, minor abuse prevention, and physical and emotional misconduct). I also have two years of sportsmed experience which has proven to be a good starting point for addressing all sorts of booboos and knowing what to do if something serious happens.
