I love working with children because they command us to be our best selves. I love to see the world from their freshly arrived perspective. Nothing is more joyful to me than remaining open to the possibilities they see in the surrounding world I live in East Dallas with my husband and our pets. I have one daughter in her 30s. When I'm not working I enjoy being in my backyard with my Koi pond. I'm fascinated by humans and love to read about emerging discoveries in neuroscience, sociology, anthropology and anything ancillary to those subjects. I'm a Certified Montessori Teacher for ages 3-6 with 15 years of experience working in Elementary and Early Childcare settings. In my career, I've had consistent success at improving reading outcomes for new readers, and would enjoy working for a family with emergent readers. Operating in this relational style with children develops trust by being kind and firm at the same time. Rather than short term fixes like punishments or rewards to support positive behavior, I encourage positive habits, and set firm, purposeful limits for disruptful or hurtful actions. When this style is applied in a consistent manner it translates into long term benefits for your child and your family. I approach parents with the same deep respect for their individual beliefs and choices. Supporting families this way is rewarding and purposeful for me. When appropriate, I use gentle humor with children in my care, because it makes the day sweeter for everyone.
