Hi, I’m Kourtney, and I am 19 years old. I am a first year college student at ABAC where I major in Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Wildlife. I am currently striving to be a Ecologist so I can do what I can to save the planet. I have been a childcare taker for the past 3 years and have had the pleasure of working with 3 different families in that time. For the first family, I worked for I cared for their 3-year-old daughter. I'd watch her Wed-Fri from 5 pm- 10 pm and Saturdays 9 am-3 pm. My weekday tasks consisted of waking her up from her naps doing structured activities with her and teaching her colors, numbers, shapes, and basic English & Spanish. I'd then prepare her dinner, get her ready for bed, clean up, and wait for her parents to come home. My weekend Read more routine started with me getting her up and dressed for the day, preparing her meals, and playing interactive games. I then put her down for her nap and while she slept I would clean up do laundry and make lunch. I would then get her up serve lunch and take her to the park or for a walk and then waited for her parents to come home. We sadly parted ways due to Covid and the mother now working from home. At the second home I was invited to I watched after three boys aged 9,10 and 11. I'd care for them Monday-Thursday 4 pm-9 pm, I'd walk them home from the bus stop, help them with their homework and make snacks and dinner. I then got them ready for bed and waited with them until their mom came home. Lastly, my most recent experience is caring for girls 1 and 5-years old. My duties for them include playtime, arts and crafts, feeding, and tutoring in Spanish. I do still currently work for this family on a part time basis. I acquired my Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED certification in 2021 and I'm equipped to handle emergency situations that hopefully won't happen.
