I am an experienced nanny and teacher with 20 years of professional experience working with children of all ages (newborns, infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children from elementary through high school). My work as a nanny has provided me with extensive experience providing childcare with a family's home both with and without parents present. As a former public school teacher, I primarily taught full-day Prekindergarten, but also have experience teaching Kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades. Prior to transitioning to a career as a full-time nanny, I also worked as a school administrator, disabilities coordinator, and instructional coach for a large early childhood center in the city of Chicago. I have a bachelor’s degree in both Early Childhood Education (Birth to grade 2) and Childhood Education (grades 1-6) and within the last 7 years have earned close to 500 professional development hours specific to the care and education of young Read more children. Parents love me because of my deep knowledge of child development and commitment to taking children on daily outdoor adventures in all but the most extreme weather. Children love me because of my patient, empathetic nature and my ability to use consistency and structure to encourage independence while creating feelings of comfort and safety. At this point in my career I specialize in working with children from 12 months through 5 years, children with social-emotional/behavioral disorders, and utilizing play to meet children's developmental and academic milestones. Parents are frequently excited when they learn: I am a former lifeguard and swim instructor and can confidently care for children in and around water; I am a licensed driver with my own vehicle; I speak conversational Spanish from my time as a Peace Corps Volunteer; I am certified in infant/child/adult CPR and Pediatric First Aid; and possess Illinois teaching licensure from Prekindergarten through Grade 9.
