Hello! My name is Fig and I currently reside in Mahopac, NY. I have had a love for children ever since I myself was a young child. My youngest sibling is 6 years younger than I, and from the moment he was born I was begging my mom to let me help take care of him. During my high school years I worked as a baby sitter as well as at an after school program for children in the area. I went to college at SUNY New Paltz and got my degree in Visual Arts Education K-12. There I had the opportunity to teach art to children and teens and further gained experience in my passion of care taking. When in college I worked in a group home for the ARC Mid-Hudson. This group home was for adults with mental and physical disabilities. Here is where I got my CPR Read more and First Aid training, as well as AMAP training. After college I started nannying full time as I no longer had to work around a school schedule. I nannied full time for a wonderful family in Woodstock taking care of their precious daughter, Peggy, from the age of 6 months all the way to 18 months. It was truly a life changing experience in the best way. Seeing Peggy go from barely supporting her own head to sitting then walking then running, helping her gain vocabulary, and doing activities with her from reading to art and going to events such as story time at the library was such a magical experience. Seeing the world through her curious and excited eyes and knowing I was keeping her safe and healthy and happy was so rewarding. I spent a quick year and a half in New Mexico after that where I had multiple part time nannying jobs with other babies as well as disabled children and those experiences only strengthened my passions for care taking. I am now back in New York and excitedly looking for another opportunity to help a family and care for their beautiful children.
