Why I love being a sitter? I love being a sitter because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives by supporting their growth, fostering their confidence, and creating a safe, nurturing environment. As the oldest of seven siblings and part of a family with 42 grandchildren, I’ve spent much of my life caring for children and witnessing the joy they bring. My parents, both lifelong educators who continue to substitute teach nearly every day at the age of 82, instilled in me a deep appreciation for education and the importance of supporting young minds. These values, coupled with my own experiences, inspire me to bring patience, empathy, and creativity to every family I work with. What experience do you have? With over 25 years of experience mentoring, coaching, and guiding teens, young adults, and single mothers, I’ve developed a unique ability to connect with individuals from Read more diverse backgrounds. My personal journey as a parent of three children, two sons and a daughter, my oldest 2 children had developmental challenges, including autism spectrum disorder and receptive processing disorder, has equipped me with skills in behavior therapy and emotional support. My third child has had medical issues, I guided his home schooling needs when he was unable to attend school during medical flare ups. Growing up in a large family also gave me countless opportunities to babysit and care for children of all ages. My catering background has further enhanced my organizational skills, and I’ve often incorporated fun, creative activities into caregiving, such as planning meals and special events that children enjoy. What skills and training do you have? I am self-taught in behavior therapy and have successfully implemented tools to support children with developmental challenges, focusing on mindfulness and resilience-building strategies. Although, currently recertification is needed, I hold a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification, which includes CPR training, ensuring that I’m always prepared for safety and emergency situations. My technical expertise as a software consultant has strengthened my problem-solving and communication skills, enabling me to create structured, supportive environments for children. Families can trust me to handle challenges with care and professionalism while fostering positive, enriching experiences for their children.
