Meet Destiny

I am a 20-year-old sophomore at Mississippi State University, majoring in Political Science. I graduated from Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood, MS, where I was actively involved in various extracurricular activities. I played basketball, ran track, and was a member of the choir, which helped me develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills. At Mississippi State, I'm continuing to focus on my studies in political science, where I am building a strong foundation in government and public policy. Outside of academics, I am passionate about staying involved in my community and continuing to develop skills in leadership and communication. I have extensive experience caring for children of various ages, both in paid and volunteer settings. I frequently babysit my three younger brothers, ranging in age from toddlers to preteens, which has given me hands-on experience in managing different needs and activities. In addition, I worked for my grandmother, who owned Read more two daycare centers. There, I worked with children from newborns to 14 years old. My responsibilities included assisting in the daily care of infants, helping older children with activities, and supervising them during playtime and structured lessons. I also engaged in fun and educational activities to promote learning and social skills. I have also worked with after-school programs, where I took children to the playground and organized special activities. This role helped me develop my ability to manage groups of children and ensure that they were safe and engaged. Lastly, I worked at a children's museum during the summer while in high school. This experience allowed me to facilitate hands-on educational activities and interact with children of various ages, further enhancing my ability to communicate and connect with kids in a fun, learning-focused environment.
