Hello, my name is Emma, I am 24 years old and currently a science teacher at an alternative school for at-risk teens. I have been teaching for two years now and have loved every minute of it. From a young age I always knew I wanted to have a career in teaching. My mother had a small at-home daycare while I was growing up. I was able to learn quickly what it takes to work in childcare because I was surrounded by it everyday, for so many years. I learned from a young age how to take care of children from watching and learning my mom. Once I turned 14 I started babysitting for a local family, two nights a week. From there my passion grew and I spent the next five years babysitting for family friends, my older sister(her 3 kids), and neighbors. (from ages 1-7) My responsibilities included Read more cooking, cleaning, driving to and from practices/school, bottle feeding infants, and tutoring. I spent most of my time babysitting toddlers aged 1-3. While in college I spent two winters working in childcare at a local ski mountain. I was a ski instructor for ages 4-5 years, I worked in the infant department, and also worked in the toddler room. After college I knew I wanted to work in education but also had a passion to help children that weren't given the normal childhood they deserved. I was lucky to find a school for at risk teens and I knew right away that I wanted to work there. Teaching at this school has taught me so many skills. It takes so much patience to get students who despise school to not only want to learn, but also enjoy learning. I teach ages 12-18 and the type of students I work with need constant supervision and support. Through this I have learned a great amount of responsibility. Although I love every aspect of my job I am looking for more to do when I am not teaching my students. I have also animal sat for my coworkers and family. I have house sat for a few families now which included watching their cat and dogs. My responsibilities included cleaning, feeding and walking animals, changing litter box, watering plants, and giving animals medications. I am offering childcare, dog and cat services, household/cleaning services. I am CPR/ First Aid certified and also have my life guard certification. I am super flexible and willing to help in whatever aspect. I have a strong work ethic and am up to any challenge. I have many years of experience and am excited to be able to be a help to you.
