Jennifer’s Bio

Dear Pet Parents:
Hi! I am Jennifer Davies, and I am currently active in the dog and cat rescue community. My journey with canine and feline rescue started 2008. During this time, my son and late husband decided to go to the humane society in Tacoma, WA and get me a Hanukah present: an American Pit Bull/Weimaraner mix. I was in shock, as I wanted a small dog to cozy up with, not this 90 lb pit bull! However, it was love at first sight, and she became my dog soul-mate! This girl saved my life twice by detecting when my blood sugar dropped too low to be compatible with life. This is a rare manifestation of lupus, which results in antibodies attacking my insulin receptors. This girl, Belle, never had training whatsoever.
My relationship with Belle triggered activism for shelter cats and dogs. I ended up rescuing and being outspoken against breed specific legislation, animal abuse, and adopting a minimum of four dogs and two cats continuously. Currently, we live on a quarter of an acre that our four rescues enjoy: Hogey is a 141/2 year-old Sharpei/lab mix, that we rescued in Florida from Palm Beach Animal Shelter. Hogey had been returned multiple times due to being an escape artist. Coco LaRue (9) is a beauty queen, and was also rescued from Palm Beach Animal Shelter. Coco was used to breed puppies, then she was dumped along with her male housemate after they no longer produced large litters. Coco’s brother was adopted before we had a chance to get him.
Macy Grey Street (10), was a fetal dog that we brought back with us from Arruda dos Vinhos Portugal. Macy was incredibly abused by humans. It took two years to get her potty trained and to trust humans! Marley (Mar-Mar) our newest senior canine is am Olde English Bull Dogge, whose daddy had passed away leaving his mommy desperate and grieving, Apparently. Marley belonged to her husband and she never wanted a pet. Marley was scheduled to be euthanized on December 24, 2023. However, my husband and I drove 400 miles to get him just a few hours before he were to be euthanized. There were so many issues and surgeries that needed to be done ASAP. He is truly doing well and happy.
I have rescued many cats through-out this journey as well.
I will care your pets with love, compassion, and empathy. Thank you.
