I've been an animal lover since childhood and have always stepped up to the plate whenever friends and loved ones have needed help with the care of their furry (or hairless) friends, and want to continue to offer the help where I may. I've had cats my whole life and am very familiar with their care, I've also taken a personal interest in learning about neonate and kitten care in hopes to aid in fostering efforts one day. My experience with dogs comes from the years I lived with and aided in the care of an older staffordshire mix named Lucy, as well as a pure-breed chow chow with considerable anxiety named Emmy. It was also during this time I learned that accidents happen and it's not always the animal's fault. Unfortunately, Lucy bit me in the face when I tried to remove a tic from her, and while I was very lucky it was a small nip that didn't leave a scar, it taught me a valuable lesson about a) how NOT to remove a tic from a dog and b) the importance of patience, forgiveness, and caution when working with nervous and scared animals. I never force myself onto an animal and demand their affections, I find the best way is to read their body language and respect the boundaries they give me until they accept me
