I am a junior at Vassar College in upstate New York. I have had several pets in my life: I had a cat from birth until age 15, and another cat who we got when I was 6 and lives at home upstate. I owned a dog (German sheperd and golden retriever mix) from the age of seven up until February when unfortunately we had to put him down. He was a rescue dog and had a serious fear of other humans, and while owning him was a challenge, it was extremely rewarding, and losing him was very difficult.
Soon after I began volunteering at my local Animal Shelter, walking dogs and caring for cats, for approximately 15 hours per week. It was wonderful to be able to work with animals again. I have a strong affinity to animals and have found ways to bond with each dog and cat I've worked with, whether he/she be aggressive, shy, temperamental, energetic, etc. I have no doubt that I would be able to work well with any animal I meet.
In my apartment in the city we have a rabbit named Christopher and a little dog named Ivan (a Bijon Frise). I hope I can meet and care for your pet!
