Hello! My name is Barbara Cronin, and I'm an undergraduate student in UNC's School of Education. I'm studying to be a teacher, and I just finished with my junior year a couple of weeks ago.

I am the oldest of 5 children, with a mother who has a massive heart for animals. Growing up, my house was always full of dogs, cats, hamsters, and whatever other pets my siblings and I could convince my mother to allow (including birds, fish, and guinea pigs).

After graduating from high school, I spent the summer working full-time at a boarding kennel in Mebane, NC called Bed n' Bone. Daily, I arrived at work bright and early to begin letting the dogs out for morning potty and play time. Throughout the day, I thoroughly cleaned kennels and cages, fed the dogs and cats, administered medicines, and repeatedly let dogs out for potty breaks. Working at the kennel was an absolute joy for me. I applied for the job because of how much I loved animals, but I had no idea how amazing it would be to spend every day working with pets. Many families who dropped their pets off were regular travelers, and it was awesome to be able to get to know some of the dogs and cats on a long-term basis.
