I have owned dogs since I was a kid and have had my own pets since 19. My husband and I currently own two labs, one pit bull mix, and two long haired cats. I have worked at a training facility supervising dog playtimes during the daily training program they offered and have experience with all sizes and breeds of dogs, as well as large groups of dogs. Dog training titles I’ve put on my own pets include the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy certificate, Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Advanced, and Novice Trick Dog. When possible, I like to take my dogs for new experiences and adventures like camping, hiking, dock diving, some “for fun” conformation classes, and “for fun” dock diving classes. I completed the Karen Pryor Academy online course for dog training a few years ago and take an active interest in different tools and methodologies of dog training. Most recently, I have been learning about the Training Between the Ears method. Each dog has a different personality and therefore different training needs, and I believe in the benefits of rewards based training and balanced dog training depending on the dog. I also have experience caring for freshwater and saltwater fish, reptiles, and even baby, bottle-fed raccoons!
