Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read my application for pet care. I've spent most of my life around animals. Growing up my parents bred dogs and as kids we always had so much fun raising them. We often traveled with our dogs, too, in those days it wasn’t common so, it was special as my father worked for Delta, even our dog had a “go bag.” We often put our dog in a travel kennel and would either board a Delta flight to the beach or hop in his small 4-seater to visit family in another state. I jokingly say," I work to Travel," but it's no joke, I am also a travel agent, so I know how hard finding good reliable care for your pets is and how important they are to those who love them!
I have worked 25+ years with young children and families focusing on my background in development and education. I started out as a Nanny in college then went on to public and private schools followed by owing my own businesses and now have come full circle, back to nannying for about 7 years. More often than not, the families I worked for had pets. One family even had 4 of the most varying breeds of cats I've ever seen from tiny and loud to fat and lazy and even had one with a brain disease called "wobbly bob" he was my favorite.
After 5 years with my current nanny family, my role is sadly ending and while looking for a new nanny position, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this website has the option to post pet caregivers as well.
I am reliable, patient, resourceful and kind. I think having good communication is key to success when working with families and caring loved ones. I have done pet sitting over the years, usually for families that are traveling and often in my home.
Sadly, a year ago, we lost our last pet, Chester, an overstuffed orange and white tabby and I definitely feel the void. It was a tough year as we also lost our house due to flooding during storms at the start of Fall. Luckily, our current lease allows for visiting pets, but we can't have them live here with us full-time.
So, all of that leads me to you...
I have experience with both large and small dogs, cats, turtles, some small lizards, hamsters, fish and can't forget the hermit crabs and chickens.
I am open to one time pet care for travel/work/etc, or consistent care on a schedule and everything in between.
