I started taking care of friend's pets while they were away from home about 15 years ago. I have taken care of a friend's 4 cats in her home for periods of time from 1 - 2 weeks, including feeding, watering, cat box cleaning, affection and play time, and observing the health situation of every pet under my care. I also take in mail and papers and take out the trash, and clean up after pet accidents. One of my dogs is blind from glaucoma, and has to have eye drops administered twice daily. All of my pets are spayed or neutered, well fed and cared for, and loved very much. Since my grandson and his girlfriend are adults, I can be away overnight to take care of other peoples' pets.
