Ava babysat for our 13 month-old daughter for two evenings while we were visiting Cranwell Resort for a wedding. This was my first time using sittercity and I was slightly apprehensive, but my fears were immediately put to rest. Ava was not only incredibly prompt and professional but seemed very comfortable, calm, and confident with children - it was clear she has a lot of babysitting experience. She had no problem immediately getting down on the carpet to play and was engaged without being overbearing (e.g. she knew to hang back and let our daughter approach her when she felt comfortable, instead of immediately trying to pick her up).
On Saturday our daughter's nap schedule got totally messed up (probably from all the traveling) and Ava was able to roll with the punches despite dealing with an admittedly cranky child. We had to rush off to the wedding ceremony and I was worried our daughter would resist her bedtime routine, so you can imagine my pleasant surprise when Ava texted an update later than evening that they took a nice walk in the stroller and she gave her a bath and put her to bed without incident! We were thrilled not only that she was able to get our daughter to sleep but also her kindness in texting an update so that I could relax and enjoy the wedding reception. To anyone reading this I would not hesitate to recommend Ava as a babysitter. Though I only witnessed her with our young toddler, I'm sure she would be great with older children as well. If we ever head back to the Berkshires I'll be contacting her myself!
