My well runs deep!

~ Pet/House Sitting: I've engaged in this primarily for those close to me (and their friends) for years. I'm an animal lover extraordinaire - mostly (barring reptiles, aquatic animals, etc.). I love them all but prefer the more mundane: dogs/cats. I grew up with dogs, large and small. I've had several rescues (1 from a country road that was bottle-fed due to age and thrived - others from shelters and such) that have always become members of my family. (None at the moment. My last dog was laid to rest at 13.5 yo due to health issues. 120# shepherd/wolf)

~ Babysitting/Nanny: I do love children - my own now grown, however, and not looking for a live-in commitment (i.e., foster care). I was a single parent for 16 yrs. I believe in common sense/love 'n logic approaches to parenting/care as much as possible. TV is okay, although I prefer "everyday teaching opportunities" and engaging minds in activities/educational play. I was also a CASA volunteer for about 7 yrs, then served on the BOD for another 2. I'm not opposed to appropriate background checks (at your expense). Although no longer, I've been CPR and mental health certified at various times in my life.

~ Elder/Companion Care: Apart from family, I've done this professionally once in my life with a local agency. It was a wonderful experience that led to a lasting friendship with the client and preferred rating/request with his family. This was a non-medical position involving light housekeeping, providing snacks, driving him to breakfast/lunch/errands, visiting, pet care, daily logs, shopping list prep for family, etc.

Overall, I am a "glass half full" kind of person who empathizes easily and warmly with others. I "love" far more than I "hate" and want to "understand" more than merely "tolerate". I am a Christian and exercise these primary beliefs and values. (If this is an issue, I'm not your girl. :) ) I respect others and expect the same in return. I view honesty/integrity as paramount. (At the "end of the day", they're the only things we truly "take with us"... and are the "legacy" we leave behind.) I am a fairly private person but am also open to sharing any information to help you make the best decision for yourself and your needs/situation. I'm also available for most days, times, schedules, and occasional overnights, if needed.
