Diane’s Bio
I am a lifelong pet owner who would happily care for your fur-babies while you're busy or away, tending to their scheduled needs and giving them lots of attention and loving. (feathers, fins, scales, shells & etc. are welcome too!
- Pets I have had in my lifetime include big dogs (Collies, German Shepherds), medium dogs (beagles), small dogs (lovable mutts); rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, and a wide assortment of fish, reptiles, amphibians, ant farms and temporary "guest" insects. As my two children have grown older, we have gradually lessened the number of our family's pets. Currently we have a dear little elderly beagle.
- My pet-sitting experience has been mainly just for friends, and has included care for their horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, parakeets, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, and an array of fish, reptiles and amphibians.
- My past volunteer experience with animals includes two years of horse care/barn help at Claremont Riding Academy in New York City; a year on the volunteer Park Enforcement Patrol of Central Park (mounted volunteers who ride through the parks' trails and radio park police when thier assistance is needed); and a year of volunteering at a privately-held horse boarding barn in Poolesville, MD.
- My current volunteer experience includes serving as the Faculty Advisor for Illinois State University's (ISU) Equestrian Club and Team (hunt seat and western); and volunteering at the Humane Society of Central Illinois, in Bloomington.
By profession, I am a faculty member at ISU and have a 25+ year career in higher education administration and teaching.
I do not have any pet-related certifications; however I am generally trained to respond well in emergencies, holding certifications in First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, and CPR; and holding several various training certifications with Boy Scouts of America (for which I am I volunteer Executive Committee member for Troop 007).
I am new to Sittercity. A lifelong animal-lover, I miss having more pets in my life and would be delighted to come and care for yours while you're away or busy.
[The prices listed below are placeholders, as sitters are required to list something. Really, though, prices are negotiable depending on what kind of help you need, and how many and what kind of pets you have.]
